The cafe has ample parking and outdoor seating overlooking the Genkai-nada Sea and is in a perfect location. Relax and enjoy the beauty of Minatohama's sandy beach and Tategami Rock with Bob Marley music playing in the background.
Seaside Café Jammin' first opened in 1992 and moved to its current location in 2002, making it a decade in business. The owner, Mr. Nakayama, has been a passionate surfer since his school days. He says this beach is even known as the best surfing spot north of Kyushu and it looks like it. Surfing competitions and similar events sponsored by the café take place here. Professional surfers and skateboarders from all over the country visit Jammin' and surf here.
One of the shop's specialties is curry. It takes four days to prepare and is so delicious and popular that you can even order it online and have it delivered via refrigerated shipping. Also try the Jamaican jerkica chicken and hamburger platters, or reserve the grill and grill on the patio (for four or more people). Additionally, the café offers a wide variety of pasta dishes and pizzas, to name a few a la carte and desserts.
Even if you travel from the town of Karatsu along the coast to the nearby port of Yobuko, the ruins of ancient Nagoya Castle (Hizen Prefecture) or Hadomisaki (attractive headland), take a break as the music blends harmoniously into the landscape. The cafe has an extensive drinks menu with great Lion coffee imported from Hawaii. There is a full bar with everything you want including non-alcoholic beer for drivers.
My visit took place on a windy and rainy day in February, but the cafe was still open. The sea views are beautiful at any time of year and in winter you can enjoy a wood burning stove. Even without a beach view, the comfortable interior takes you to the Aloha State. If you are a fan of legendary surfer Eddie Aikau, you will be warmly welcomed here.
