Daimyo: Fukuoka's trendy district – Fukuoka

Daimyo is one of my favorite places in Fukuoka. Located in the heart of the Chuo area, you will find this area absolutely stunning. Daimyo is full of trendy fashion items, including big brands like Nike and The North Face, but mostly original Japanese items.

Daimyo not only offers elegant and stylish outfits for twenty-somethings, but also many restaurants, bars, cafes and beauty salons. At first I thought it was similar to Harajuku in Tokyo, but on the contrary, it is completely different. Most of the people here are older people, it's very rare to see Japanese schoolgirls on the street. It has a completely different style; Fukuoka style. Fukuoka is famous for its strong classical and hip-hop culture and Daimyo is no exception. Daimyo is the focus of the audience between 20 and 35 years old, with a more mature and elegant style.

I think Daimyo is the heart of Fukuoka, just minutes from Tenjin's big department stores and the street bars in Oyafuko Yatai nearby (food stalls). Daimyo is a very small area, but as you walk the winding streets of Daimyo you will discover a new favorite shop or cafe. It's a great way to discover hidden gems as there are hundreds of secret shops, hidden bars and exciting new fashion styles.

The coffee culture in Daimyo is similar to that in Europe, where people sit on the street and chat. Daimyo is a great place to make friends and make the city your own. The daimyo world made me love Fukuoka. In the afternoon it's perfect to people watch at Daimyo, check out the stylish girls on Saturday, or go to a small bar on the weekend and watch young hippies spill out onto the streets in fashionable outfits for the week. Western bars can be found at Three Kings British Pub, Black Sheep or Pub Morris. Infinity is one of the clubs featured there and at the end of the night you can end up at Happy Cock. I recommend going to Small Spaces for a quiet experience or just wandering around and seeing what you can find there.
